What Do We Want?

Updated: May 8, 2020

Day Three

What do you want? What do we all want? On a surface level, there are as many different answers as there are people - plus some. Yet what if we sit with that question and let it settle in us? What do all the stuff and things and jobs and vacations and desires that we have and want truly come down to? At the core, they all define three things for every single one of us: wellbeing, freedom and connection.

Most people, when I ask them what they want, start by telling me what they don’t want. They say, “I don’t want this or that in my life.” Then I will say, "Yes, I understand that you don’t want that, but what do you actually want?" That is usually when they say, “Well, I want to not have this or that in my life.” That is still focusing on what you don’t want, not on what you do want. This will cause much conflict in our lives! Why? Because focusing on what you don’t want will never create what you do want. You will continually be out of resonance within your own life.

We are vibrational beings. Everything in this world, everything in this universe, is vibrating. When something vibrates, it sends out that vibration, a resonance. When two things that are vibrating at different frequencies come close to each other, they will either come into resonance or they will repel or resist resonance.

When there is dissonance, there is conflict. Resolution could come when the two harmonize (come into resonance) with each other and create a larger energetic field together. If they are unwilling to harmonize, they will repel each other. If they do not repel each other, the dissonance will cause one or both to break down.

But when there is resonance, the energetic fields connect and combine to create a field greater than just each individual.

Everything in this world is on some level vibration. Your thoughts are vibration. Your emotions are vibration. Your words are most definitely vibration. Everything you do, say, or think is creating some level of resonance in our world. The more we invest in an aspect of vibration the more likely it is to become manifest in the physical. If you want to know what your overall resonance is, take a moment and just stop. Become an observer for a moment. Take a look at your life in general and then look around you at the things in your life. They are all a result of the choices you have made. The stuff and people in your life are all your agreements with this world and who you believe yourself to be.

Now the reason for these agreements and beliefs are manifold. We can ask ourselves if all the choices we have made, if all the agreements we have made about who and what we are in this life, have been of our conscious choosing. For most of us, I would say that a good amount of the lives we live we did not choose consciously. From the moment we come out of the womb (and I could add even while we are in the womb), decisions, choices, morals, ethics, and beliefs are being placed upon us. We take on beliefs about what is possible or impossible long before we can understand these choices. Our tribe/family/community/country/world tell us what is safe and what is not. They say to us, “This is how you fit in and feel safe. If you do not you will feel uncomfortable. You will not get along. Fall in with what is and you will be all right.”

So we push down our internal desire to expand. We shift our resonance so that we do not make those around us feel uncomfortable. We stop expressing our true desires and put on masks. We create images of who we think our world wants us to be. We cover up, lock down, shove aside the creative expression of our true selves, our divine nature to express and make ourselves into someone or something that does not cause waves because that is the way we feel safe.

So there can be a lot of confusion and agitation when I ask someone, "What do you want in your life? What do you want to create or be?" Usually they are coming to see me when they don’t know what mask or image of who they think they are should answer. They are usually at the point where they feel the dissonance in their lives so greatly that they are not sure what to do. They just know they have reached the point in their lives that they are really uncomfortable and want to change but don’t know how. The measures they have put in place to keep themselves feeling safe are not working anymore. Or the wounds they have been covering up and covering up and covering up are bursting at the seams and will not be held back any longer.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this!

A little bit about me.

I have been practicing Energetic Medicine for over 20 years now. What that means is I help people find their way back to Freedom and Wellbeing through the use of many different tools such as Energetic Healing and repair of our many different energetic bodies, Belief System identification and restructuring as well as Psycho-Spiritual Ecology and Spiritual Direction.

I work with both individuals and groups. If you are interested in a personal session or setting up a group class/workshop, let me know.
