Meet the founding family

Freia Ramsey, her husband David and daughter Anya celebrated Opening Day on October 20, 2018, surrounded by the love and support of their community.


From concept to fruition, they never once faltered on making their dream a reality. Taproot Yoga in Chardon, Ohio, is a special place for healing and connecting.

Freia Ramsey, ERYT500, C-IAYT

Yoga Therapist

Freia Ramsey teaches Yoga Teachers Trainings, Workshops, group classes and private sessions. She has studied many forms of yoga since 1997. She is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance and a Certified Yoga Therapist with the International Yoga Therapy Association.  Freia’s yoga classes breath centered and dynamic; synchronizing the breath with mindful movements to bring the student to the present moment. Her classes are based on the needs of the students in that moment; facilitating self-awareness and giving each student the tools to create positive change in their whole being: body, mind and spirit. My yoga teaching comes from a sincere desire to help people to alleviate suffering in their bodies and their minds. Yoga has helped me to overcome anxiety and depression, to realign my spine, to feel strong and resilient in my body and to feel a sense of deep inner peace. The greatest benefit of my yoga practice however, is how it helps me to be kinder with myself and others.  I want to share this life changing practice with others who are ready to be their best selves.

David Ramsey

Intuitive Healer

David is an Intuitive Healer committed to helping individuals and communities thrive in health and vitality. His experience in the healing fields spans over two decades, with over 2,500 hours of professional training. David's journey began in 1999 with an introduction to conscious awareness through Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). He realized then that we hold those patterns in our bodies. It was at that time he began his training in Massage Therapy, Zen Shiatsu, Five Element Theory, Intuitive Healing and Energetic Medicine. His focus always pointing to helping individuals release those inhibiting patterns. David’s expertise and passion lies in assisting release of chronic concerns and issues on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. His approach to personal and professional growth is threefold in Body, Mind, & Spirit. When your body feels good your mind is free to create, and when your mind is free to create, your spirit can soar! “Each person walks a path. My aim is to honor that path and help them expand the awareness of who they are to release Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual disharmonies. Shanna Brown, RYT500

Yoga Instructor, Intuitive Healer

Shanna teaches the Yoga Teacher Trainings and Energetics at Taproot along with teaching group classes and seeing private clients. She has studied various types of movement her whole life from sports, to dance, Qi Gong, Tai Chi, and yoga. “No matter what physical limitations I have experienced or experience, I have always found a way to move my body in a safe, enhancing and fun way!” Shanna believes in helping people fall in love with movement and moving their bodies. She strives to help others build flexibility, endurance, and strength in a pain free and enjoyable way. Movement is fun!  Shanna is a preschool teacher and has taught dance to young children for the past 9 years. She is excited for this new opportunity to share her love of yoga with adults. Her background in studying multiple healing modalities including reiki, ayurvedic medicine and marma are all integrated in her yoga classes to make class a healing and fun experience.  Shanna completed her 200 hour level yoga teacher certification in the fall of 2016. She is also certified in Usui Reiki Level 1 as well as certified in Holy Fire Usui Reiki level 1 and level 2 at Akashic Ascension in 2015.

Anya Ramsey

Anya is a senior at Chardon High School and takes CCP classes at Lakeland College. Her passion is riding and training horses. She plans on owning her own therapeutic riding stable where she will train and ride horse and help humans and horses to connect.

Sue Corbett

Yoga Instructor

Sue is a Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher 200 with Yoga Alliance since 2011.  She also has certifications in Advanced Reiki Training and Restorative Yoga.  One of her great fulfillment is connecting with people making them feel good and accepting themselves as who they are, physically, mindfully and spiritually.  She knows we are not all the same, so its important for her to know each Yogi and respect their bodies. Sue enjoys practicing an energetic Vinyasa which includes breathing techniques, body flow, balance, and meditation.  Heating up the body allowing the flow of energy run through.  Ahhh powerful!   She also enjoys a Restorative practice which allows the mind and body to totally relax in different poses lasting around 5 minutes in each pose.  Ahhhh, blissful!! Sue's yoga journey has been personally enlightening and loves sharing energy with each Yogi she meets on her path! Sue teaches private and group practices

Amanda Mance-Wilkinson, LMT

Massage Therapist, Reiki Master

Amanda Mance-Wilkinson is a Licensed Massage Therapist and Reiki Master. She has been practicing since 2014 in a variety of settings. She received her massage certification from the Cleveland Institute of Medical Massage and then received her licensure through the Ohio State Medical Board. Her training covered many modalities including myofascial release, neuromuscular therapy, prenatal massage, lymphatic drainage, polarity therapy and other therapeutic and relaxation techniques. In 2015, Amanda received her Masters certification as a 5th generation Reiki practitioner from Judy McKraken of Reiki Ray's of Hope. This understanding and utilization of life force energy, or "ki", has vastly improved her connection with clients and their results. With experience in spa, wellness and clinical practices, Amanda has the skills necessary to help with a wide array of conditions. Amanda is looking forward to working with Taproot Yoga and working with clients along their journey towards self improvement and personal understanding.

Judy Venaleck

Yoga Instructor

Judy's yoga journey began with an interest in promoting holistic wellness to adolescents.  This interest led me to a personal journey of inner awareness and self-discovery. She quickly began to see the benefits - not just to the body, but how it ultimately affected her daily life.  Yoga has opened her heart towards a more spiritual practice and promoted more patience in her relationships.  It has allowed her to become more of a listener and observer towards others and it assists in her teaching on all levels.  As anyone who practices knows, yoga is more than asanas - it is the ability to bring balance to your mind, body and spirit.  It is a true gift for me to share and guide others on their journey of self-discovery and wellness and welcome anyone who is willing to take a chance and roll out their mat!

Rebecca Wohlever

I came to yoga after my oldest son was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 2. Yoga created a space for me to connect to myself in a way I never knew was possible, let alone important! After a few years of practice, and with big shifts on the horizon of life, I embarked on my first teacher training. This immersion into yoga forever changed my life by helping me to find greater clarity, self-assuredness and peace.  Sharing yoga with others, whether it be through a pose that feels amazing, or a teaching that brings insight into life, has been a blessing. Whether the class is restorative and gentle or challenging and invigorating, the focus is on safe alignment through body-awareness, mindful breath work and deepening inner connection through Yogic teachings and mantra.  I love leading kirtan(a form of yoga where we sing chants together), as well as a variety of workshops for beginners through seasoned practitioners. I also teach Yogic Philosophy and Nada Yoga (sound yoga) in yoga teacher trainings.  I also enjoy spending time with my family, exploring the outdoors, and creating and sharing music in the greater Cleveland area as a singer-songwriter.
