Yoga classes offered

All yoga styles have a common heritage and originate from Hatha Yoga, which refers to the physical practice of the poses (asanas). There are many variations and offsprings based on different lineages and teachers. 


At Taproot Yoga, each class is an authentic offering of our unique, talented and highly trained instructors. Our yoga classes are personal, and each teacher will share their knowledge in their unique way. So try many classes and teachers and find the practice that speaks to you.

Gentle Yoga & Breath-Work

Treat your mind, body and soul to mini vacation. In this gentle, slow moving class we will gently stretch our muscles releasing muscular tension as well as tension in our minds. We will match movement with breath and focus our minds on an intention or positive affirmation. Classes will include grounding and centering, breath awareness and meditation. This class will energize, help relieve stress and promote mind body awareness. This practice is open to ALL levels. Accessible to all levels, experienced yogis who are looking to slow down, those newer to yoga or those working with special concerns or injuries.

Therapeutic Yoga

A gentle slow moving practice appropriate for beginners also beneficial for all practitioners. This class is designed and structured based on the individual needs of each student that attends. This class is particularly great for lower back, hips and pelvis, neck and shoulders, chronic pain, and anyone who struggles with osteoporosis. It is designed to stretch, strengthen, and assist with balancing out the body. At the end of the class you’ll enjoy a twenty minute guided meditation called Yoga Nidra. This mediation is designed to turn off the stress response in our bodies and calm our nervous system. Yoga Therapy is particularly beneficial for lower back, hips and pelvis, neck and shoulders, chronic pain, arthritis, osteoporosis, immune deficiency issues and many other health concerns.

Yoga Basics

This class focuses on core asanas/postures and the foundations of breath-work. Learn proper alignment, where to focus effort and where to find release. Build strength, stamina, flexibility and balance as well as improve concentration and breath control.  **Good choice for beginners, great for all levels. A strong yoga practice begins with a sturdy foundation, this class can fine tune even an advanced practice.

Slow Flow

This is a moderate level class that focuses on cultivating the full yogic breath, focused attention and mindful movements coordinated with the breath. These classes feature slower versions of sun salutations. By slowing down and deepening the breath, moving slowly and mindfully the practice becomes a moving meditation; strengthening and stretching the body and calming the mind.

Energizing Flow

A more vigorous flowing, dynamic yoga practice that cultivates presence by connecting movement with breath. Most classes feature several elements of traditional Ashtanga yoga— sun salutations, standing poses, preparation for arm balances & backbends, with focus on gaze point guided by a steady breath.  ***classes require focus and move at a quicker pace; therefore, some Yoga experience is helpful prior to starting this class.

Teen Yoga

Teens have unique concerns and challenges that yoga can address in a non-competitive and safe environment. Breathing techniques and mindful movement increase body awareness, decrease stress and anxiety, and help to relieve depression. Teens are better able to make healthy decisions and have a positive self-esteem and body image with a yoga practice that focuses on their distinct needs and experiences.  We hope you’ll join us for this fun and encouraging class where we will address common themes in teen life during a yoga practice.

Kids Yoga

Yoga provides a great way for kids to unwind, release stress and build strong healthy bodies and minds. In a non-competitive and nurturing environment, your child will practice silly asana sequences, play fun and challenging yoga style games, learn simple partner poses, learn skills & techniques for self-calming and stress relief. Thematic ideas such as peace, respect, gratitude & acceptance will be introduced through literature and discussion. This class provides a fun filled way to cultivate self-esteem and body awareness.

Yoga Dance Groove

Buti Yoga is a dynamic asana practice fused with primal movement, tribal dance and deep core engagement. Buti Yoga is a tribe of empowered women who support each other in their quest for health and happiness. The movement methodology is drawn from ancient yoga technique, a vinyasa style practice to awaken the Shakti energy and free the mind. It utilizes the spiral structure technique to sculpt and tone the deep abdominal muscles that stabilize and strengthen the body, Buti Yoga will completely subvert everything that you thought you knew about the practice.

Yin Yoga

This practice begins with traditional Sun A’s to warm up the body and moves into more restorative poses held for 3-5 minutes. Yin dives deep into the connective tissues, releasing tension and stress through longer held seated postures and awareness of the breath. A Yin practice is a perfect way to balance your body and quiet your mind. Yin compliments the more vigorous practices of Vinyasa and Yoga Dance Groove, opening the hips and shoulders, healing joints and increasing flexibility.


Yoga-lates is a mix stretching and strengthening to deliver a full body workout. This class will combine the stretching of yoga and the control of pilates. We will warm up the body with traditional Sun A's. Then incorporate the fundamentals of Pilates; concentration, control and centering. Emphasis in both practices is on the breathe.

Strengthening Flow

A vinyasa class based on sun salutations with an intensity level right between slow flow and energizing flow. This class focuses on strengthening and stabilizing the core muscles.

Flow and Restore

This class begins with breathwork and warm up movements to prepare your mind and body to be able to relax fully into the restorative yoga poses. Each restorative pose is very comfortable and completely supportive so that you can relax into them for several minutes, giving your nervous system time to wind down and release tension and stress from your body and mind. Flow and Restore is a deeply meditative and soothing practice.

Flow & Roll

Expect a slow Vinyasa practice plus self-care Roll Model Method® tools and techniques. Using the breath to link postures into movement, this practice moves at a slow, mindful pace and offers a wide variety of modifications to customize to the individual. The flowing yoga practice will be supported and enhanced by soft tissue care, resulting in new awareness throughout the body and mind. Consider this guided journey within as a powerful tool to enhance all that you do on and off the mat. Please know comfort with basic foundational asanas is expected.
